KickRSS adds XSL and CSS Styles to XML Feeds

The work being done behind the scenes here at KickRSS is beginning to be seen in the search engines.

Nearly all of our users rss feeds are appearing somewhere in google search results (some in top 5 positions) but we were experiencing some problems as a result of some browsers not being able to view xml.

We wanted a solution that could be done on our end so visitors could view xml feeds as they would a normal webpage and not as XML markup.

We had a designer work up some xsl stylesheets for the xml feed portion of the user accounts (http://feed.kickrss instead of http://www.kickrss) so that their pages could load when visited.

What’s cool about this (besides us getting more search engine traffic) is that a user can just visit their XML Feed page without having to browse through the sludgy user list we currently have. We are working on splitting up the user pages into multiple categories, just have not gotten there yet.

The XML pages, IMO, look better than our current www pages for user feeds. Take a look at some samples here…

http://www.kickrss.com/NearMe-Blogs (WWW page)

http://feed.kickrss.com/medical news rss (XML with Stylesheet)

You can still do more on the www pages (search, modify number of feeds, view only certain feeds, etc.) but the feeds page load fast (I hope they load fast by you) and they are clean and easy to read.

Since the Feed Page XML Stylesheet is new (as of Jan 21, 2007) we’ll probably be making modifications over the next 30 days once we find what users want on that page.

Enjoy the new XSL styled pages, and thanks for using KickRSS to aggregate your Feeds!
