KickRSS traffic on the riseThis is probably not important news to anyone but ourselves here at KickRSS. I was checking the numbers in the log files on traffic for the month of February and I noticed that traffic has increased for the past week. We made some changes on the web site in the past month. While there are so many things still to do, one important change we made was to put stylesheets on user feeds so XML files could be viewed in browsers such as Internet Explorer 6.0 and Firefox 1.5. As a result, more people are now visiting user pages via the style sheet versions of the XML feeds which are showing up in search engines for various related terms. ![]() I took a screenshot for February (see above). Traffic for the first two days was about at our normal rate. On Monday we saw an increase that continued throughout the week. February 8, 2007 is the best day I’ve seen, as I don’t recall us having traffic of over 1400 users a day for 2006. I know these numbers may appear super small to some but we just got active on this web site again in December of 2006. We are still having some issues with the server, MySQL optimization, adding new feeds, layout, and organization of user accounts. We are taking it step by step and are working to improve various features available on the KickRSS web site. One of the things I’ve noticed is that user feeds are consistently appearing in top search engine rankings for various keyword phrases. I don’t think anybody intended it to happen that way, but quite a few users are getting increased traffic to their blog pages as a result. If you’ve visited the KickRSS web site during the past week you helped us grow. Thanks or that! When we go over 2000 a day I’ll post a follow-up to this article Leave a Reply |
